Lydia Boynton, Human Anatomy Unit, Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College & Cristine MacKie, Director of the London International Piano Symposium are beginning an exciting new collaboration. The objective is to produce moving images of the relevant parts of the performer’s body moving synchronously, which can then be related to show the body moves and is positioned during performance. This project is the first of its kind and of vital importance since, on the whole, teachers and players use the nineteenth century model of relying on their fingers to produce the sound and have little or no knowledge of the hinterland.
